Book contributions
No matter how many books you are donating, we deliver them to places that really need them.
You can donate used or new children books through 1001buku by:
1. Placing the books in the nearest Book drop Box (read BDB List)
2. Contact our volunteers at spd@1001buku.org or 08176838410 for the Pickup Books Service. We pick up books to the donator?s location only for certain amount of books to be donated.
We accept and distribute ONLY story books, science books, illustrated books, comics, magazines, etc, which suit children from kindergarten - junior high school ages, and do not have any pornography, violence, Ethnic group-Religions-Races disputes contents.
For this moment, due to the lack of people, restoring room and distributions area we can reach, we cannot accept school and adult books.
Time contributions
1001buku believes that every person can do something to help less fortunate children. The time you contribute will make a big change to them.
If you want to spare your time and lend a hand to be 1001buku volunteer, please join more than 950 volunteers that come from various backgrounds and live in different locations in Indonesia and other countries.
1. Please register to the 1001buku mailing list membership. Send a blank email to 1001buku-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
2. Choose an activity that suits your interest and capability on call for volunteer list
3. Join our activities. Check the 1001buku agenda on the mailing list and 1001buku website
4. Online contributions. If you don?t have time, too far from the volunteer?s activities locations, or unable to participate directly on the 1001buku events, you are still able to contribute. As long as you have an internet access, you can help us in these following activities:
a. Copy translating (articles, proposals)
b. Copy writings (articles, proposals, invitations, etc.)
c. Copy editing
d. Preparing presentations materials (power points, multimedia)
e. Research
f. Website and graphic designs
g. Managing database, website and mailing list contents
All this time those activities have been done by 1001buku volunteers that live in other towns/cities/countries or those who are limited by time.
Become a Book Drop Box Manager
You or your institution can support us by managing a Book Drop Box/BDB, a box placed in strategic locations, such as office buildings, campus, schools, and real estates. These boxes will make easier for donators to donate their books by placing them in the BDB
How to become a Book Drop Box Manager
1. Become registered as a member of 1001buku volunteer?s network by sending a blank email to mailing list of 1001buku or filling up a Join Mailing List form on the left.
2. Fill up the form of BDB volunteer and send it to Registrar for further processing.
3. The registration team will send a Registration Number, Introduction Letter to the building manager and BDB Kit (you can also download BDB kit by clicking here). Make sure that your computer has Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to access those files.
4. Send the Introduction Letter and 1001Buku profile (included in BDB Kit) to the building owner or manager as a permission plead to place the BDB
5. Provide a box which is big enough and neat, according to the agreement with the building owner or manager. It could be rattan box , plastic box, or even a hardboard box decorated as pretty as possible.
6. Print and laminate the BDB Logo (included in the BDB Kit) on a chromatic paper and attach it to the box you?ve prepared.
7. Make some copies of the flyer on a chromatic paper and spread it on the BDB location area as information that there?s a BDB in that area. You can create your own flyer according to the Flyer Creating Guide (available in the BDB Kit)
8. Managing the Book drop box:
a. Empty the books from the Book drop box regularly
b. Make a collected books data
c. Send the collected books once a month to distribution point or contact our Distribution Team so that we can pick up the books (for Jabotabek only)
9. BDB will be declared ready to operate and will be publicized to the 1001buku mailing list members if the steps to be a volunteer is completed.
10. Once every 3 months the BDB activity will be evaluated and after declared non active will have a 1 month pending period before deleted from the publicizes BDB list
11. It is expected that you will be active to give information and to communicate on the 1001buku mailing list over the BDB you?re managing, and will know each of every 1001buku volunteers.

The Book Drop Box Kit consists of:
1. The Book drop box logo, an initiative logo of Book Drop Box printed in colours and laminated
2. 1001Buku profile, contain a brief information about 1001buku and Book drop box initiative
3. Flyer Creating Guide, as a reference to create a flyer to promote the Book drop box you?re managing.

Please inform other people about how importance good reading materials for the children are. Your contribution will support us to build a new generation which love to read, smart and care about others.

2. Collaboration on books collecting, e.g. PESTA SEJUTA BUKU TERAS BOOK CLUB, held by 1001buku and SLTP Labschool Kebayoran.
3. Cooperation on books distribution, e.g. RPX Group?s support to distribute books up to 500 kg/month.
4. Cooperation on training and volunteers empowering, e.g. writing course, story telling.
5. Cooperation on training and children library management, e.g. training on children library, workshop on how to increase reading interests

8. Some of our partners are British Council, Gedung28, dan Gedung Harkat Bangsa. They give us permission to use their building for some incidental activities for free, such as our launching, public expose, regular meeting.
