Get Well Soon Program, Fatmawati Hospital
29 August 2003, by: Evie; translated by Ken

Many kids have to stay at the hospital for more than 3 or 4 months? and maybe, most of their time is spent there rather than at home or school.

Imagine how their daily lives are? they interact with medical equipments more frequently than with toys; they hear medical terms more often than children stories; they also see monotonous pale white stuffs again and again instead of the lively colorful ones.

To share some happiness with them, KKS Melati along with 1001buku has conducted a Get Well Soon Program at Fatmawati Hospital, on Saturday, June 28, 2003. This program included telling stories for children patients (children having ability to do few activities were gathered in one room, while for the others that could only lie down, the stories will be read besides their beds), making origami and having a talk with them. This program did not take a long time, only 1-2 hours, due to their physical condition that still needed much rest.

We ask you, the volunteers from Melati and 1001buku, to join us in the next program.

You need to be neither a doctor, nor an expert story teller, nor an origami maker? We only ask for your affection to share with them? to help them ease the pain and release their burden, even only for a while? to make them smile? to give back the childhood that belongs to them?

If you?d like to join or have any other ideas, call Rini at 0811 188037.
