08 August 2003, by: Dian; translated by Devi
News Break:
MANGAN Flyer and Jemput Bola (MANGAN) programs were held to collect books, to recruit new volunteers from MANGAN public, to build and develop public awareness about 1001buku and its activities
Its effectiveness can be shown from numbers of feedbacks received and from image build and public awareness. So the successive level of MANGAN Flyer & Jemput Bola can actually be seen by the number of books collected or number of volunteers recruited and the level of public awareness in MANGAN area about 1001buku community.
The continuity of MANGAN Flyer and Jemput Bola must be kept not only to support 1001buku campaign, but also to accommodate MANGAN volunteers? activity.

II.2. Evaluation |
|
|
|
Generally, 1st MANGAN flyer were effectively and successfully held because almost all brochures were distributed in relatively short time, considering there were so many people walking along the sidewalk, and many of them stop by to listen to volunteers? explanation.
Flyers in English were not yet being made, so its distribution weren?t cover foreigners working in MANGAN.
Volunteers? office e-mail addresses printing on flyers had caused a little problem, so it was decided to use personal e-mail addresses on the next flyers.
Incoming feedbacks were not orderly listed so it can not be followed-up and there?s a little miss-order where a volunteer asked caller to contact another volunteer whose location are closer to the caller?s position.

A.2. Evaluation |
|
|
|
Generally, the second MANGAN Flyer was not as effective as the first one, because of the decreasing number of pedestrians. Many people refused to receive flyers and only a few of them willing to listen volunteers? explanation because ?as they said- they already known about 1001buku (from the 1st MANGAN).
Volunteers made a little crowd along the sidewalk; as the result, people don?t feel comfortable and even avoid passing by the sidewalk.
The place is suggested to be changed, or add new attributes like posters, BDBs, and changes on flyer?s look.
Frequency of activity is suggested be rarer, for people have known 1001buku better and better.
