The Story of SPD Kebalen
08 November 2004, by: Dian, translated by: Margiono
Around 9.30 am, went to Kebalen with my husband. Dwi (PJK) and PJK candidate, Ade still without their complete cloths on (meant that they hadn?t put their jilbab on)...
Other PJK candidate, Arum, and Unie, who hasn?t been seen for quiet long time, still hadn?t had their bath... Lucky them that Fufu and Adi-Depok s? handycam couldn?t detect their strange smell. Meanwhile, there was new volunteer. Her name was Ina and she was Fufu?s downline..
After chatting, finally we started to tidy things up: school textbooks were sorted into several boxes according to their levels (SD, SMP and SMU), university textbooks, literatures in English and adult books were categorized and recorded according to their title and writer. All of them were going to be sold or exchanged with children?s books.
There was also one yellow mother cat and its three little kittens inside the room. They had been dwelling in a small space between the window and boxes of books for a long time. At first, they felt annoyed with these noisiness and busyness of the volunteers? walking around and packing things. But then, those kittens kept playing and their mother was still offensively breast feeding its children even in front of the male volunteers.. ckckckckck..
Dwi, Arum, Pipin, Melvi (who sponsored that day?s lunch), Affan, Unie (that fully utilised their time to finish reading Japan comic series ?Popcorn?), Ade, Fufu, Ina, Adi-Depok, Avip (who had new nick ?d-kumuh, which if it is translated using proper English, would be ?the untidy), Alip, Dian, Dimas, Fine.. all of them were working together sorting the books and tidying them up, were they?
Ahhh.. Wien and A?an also came. As usual, A?an directly offered her help and joined the others while Wien more likely chose to exchange his mind with several volunteers, including Arum.
Because of limited label, we focused on labelling and recording 71 packs of new books ?Ira & Ari? (1 pack had 6 books). Wow!! It was very exciting, spending the whole day labelling ?Ira & Ari?. That?s why, it was so sad if the receivers of these books forgot to give their ?Books-in Report? and didn?t keep us up to date about the growth of their library. Ehm.. Of course, it was very difficult to get this donated books, sort-label-record them tiredly (but with lots of laugh as well ...hahaha..)
After that tiring job, we focused on those books for their distribution as well as the plan for the distribution of the other thousands of books to the members of ?1001buku library network? in Jabodetabek. With the help of the publishing company, ?Tariti?, those books were distributed directly (using their own lorries) to the libraries. Ah.. there were also 71 pack of books, ?Aneka Wajah Bumi? (each has about 6 sub-title) that joined the distribution.
While we were working, we watched MTV Movie Award and Wade Robson Project. After we finished labelling-recording-packing ?Ira&Ari? (pheew!!!), we sorted and tidied up other books.. Since we hadn?t had a new permanent office, as what we planned, those books were going to be kept in a number of locations.
In the afternoon, Rini ,?PJ Perpus? came. Ah? Svetlana also came with 2 boxes of macaroni cakes at the beginning of the event... (nice... yum...yum?)
Until dawn, the event still hadn?t finished yet. Some volunteers were still packing books and coding the box for distribution. The PJK campaign was also postponed because the KPU didn?t come... Hmm... how sad?
Yup, that?s all the story of the farewell of SPD Kebalen (hem... according to my version, of course)... There were so many beautiful memories in Kebalen... I wish that this friendship will remain harmony wherever we gather together. I also wish that 1001buku will get head quarter and new book storage as soon as possible.
Wait!!! This is not finished yet. How about the mother cat and its kitten? Hmm... I wish that they can find new home... or should we take them to our new home? It seems that they enjoy those boxes very much... hmm? (any idea?)
What a wonderful time?..Don?t let this moment gone be by gone?
